Will Smith vs Chris Rock: Was It the Slap Heard Around the World or just a Hollywood Slap?

DANGEROUS EXPERIMENTS

The Fire Pit Cell characters got their name because they solved their problems huddled around a fire pit talking with each other. The warmth of the flames and the light and shadows dancing across ten faces helped them to work out their differences. They continue that tradition, because thar’s what people desperately need today – real conversations with real people, not bots shouting at one another. Not many real people left these days. So, fictional characters took over the conversation.

Shame on all of us for needing fictional characters to remind us that its important to be real. If you start to forget that, let Pinocchio remind you.

Here’s a recent Fire Pit Cell conversation.

KAITLYN

What happened?

I was in the bathroom.

Did I really miss anything?

Or was it just typical show biz?

OLIVIA

So, the world sees two black guys fighting on TV.

What’s new about that?

We’d be a lot better off is the Media showcased two black guys competing to be better fathers.

There are good black fathers, you know. We just need more if them.

Why do we always focus on the immature drama queens?

SCOTT

Academy Award show?

Oh yeah, my mother used to make the family watch that.

Is that still on TV?

Really?

Allie

Two drama queens, if you ask me.

Bring back the strong silent type of movie star.

NICOLE

Will Smith is a sellout to the MAN.

He’s been that way since he was a teenager.

He’s trying to pretend he isn’t, but I know what’s real.

I like Chris Rock.

Chris is real.

Real is important.

MICHELLE

They’re both great artists.

I love both their work.

I cried when I saw it happen.

Seems like they should be putting their talents to better use than boosting ratings for a dying TV program.

Chris and Will, call me. Maybe I can help.

LUNA

Academy Awards?

I prefer the real world.

People are living and dying.

They don’t get awards.

Hollywood seems like King Lois XVI and Queen Marie Antionette the night before the French Revolution.

Heads will roll and they’re too self-involved to see it and try to save themselves.

VERY sad, if you ask me.

GERALD

Since when do dudes slap each other?

Where I’m from, you punch the other guy out with your best shot.

If you don’t, he may pull a gun or a knife.

They were just trying to boost pathetic ratings, if you ask me.

No one talked about anything else about the Oscars the day after.

I don’t know anyone who even saw the stupid movies. nominated for awards.

SANJAY

What was that?

I guess I missed it.

Lots of stuff going on.

I guess I was on a call to relatives in India when it happened.

THEY have real problems there.

No one in India cares about what spoiled Hollywood stars do to each other.

SHELDON

Movies?
I like computer games.

KAITLYN

YAY! We’re free again.

Why did it take a court order to give me back my Freedom not to wear a mask?

I thought I was born with unalienable rights.

They taught me that in school.

What happened?

OLIVIA

Kaitlyn, welcome to our world.

Black people have never had unalienable rights.

COVID Government orders have just made you understand how the Government has always treated black people.

Welcome to the economy class, girlfriend.

We’re all flying second class watching politicians enjoying first class.

SCOTT

I get that Olivia.

Maybe black and white people should unite to guard our collective Freedom.

Freedom is too important to leave to experts in any field.

Let’s talk about that the next time we meet at the Fire Pit.

The flames usually help us reach common ground.

People uniting about Freedom is the most important thing we can all do.

Allie

Every April 18th, I’m going to throw a Freedom Party.

I hate people telling me what I have to do.

In Asia, people tend to do what the government tells them.

I don’t have to do that in America.

Asia has a lot of great things to to contribute to the world. Blind obedience to government bureaucrats isn’t one of them.

.

NICOLE

I’ve never been on an airplane, but if this Freedom thing applies to the ground too, then count me in.

MICHELLE

Freedom Party every year?

Count me in.

I always thought that Fauci guy was a control freak.

He doesn’t like courts interfering win his little CDC Kingdom. He wats “Deference” to his wisdom.

What a creep!

He wanted to set the goals.

Experts have limited abilities. We set the goals, not them. Experts can’t deliver solutions unless your goals are right.

LUNA

I stopped listening to the Government when they told us we could get infected through mouth, nose and eyes.

Then, I noticed they were wrong about eyes or didn’t care.

That didn’t make sense to me.

I began thinking: What else are they wrong about?

GERALD

I’ve always been Free.

Never wore a mask the whole Covid thing.

Knew it was a scam right from the start.

People would stare at me or say something.

After I gave them my look, they backed off.

So, welcome back to Freedom people.

Don’t give it up so easily next time.

It was getting a little lonely out there.

Get my back next time.

SANJAY

Ok, Gerald. You got me.

I gave up my Freedom the moment they mentioned “Follow the Science.”

Later, I actually talked to some scientists.

They told me the scientists were not all in agreement, but the Government people like Fauci and the media were suppressing scientists who didn’t agree with Fauci.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-9Aa-O0daw

I’m not going to fall for that again.

SHELDON

I might keep wearing my mask.

At least until I get over Acne.

KAITLYN

Jim, we had another meeting around the Fire Pit.

We found you guilty of “Authorism.”

Yes, that’s real thing. Authors are too privileged.

You’re not God, you know!

We want our FREEDOM!

We want a life outside your books.

Didn’t I warn you not to miss a meeting?

I was outvoted. What could I do?

OLIVIA

Sorry Jim, we love you, but you made us too real to control.

I have ideas too.

I have my own goals.

I want a say in what the Fire Pit Cell says and does.

Oh, I almost forgot. I charged this latte to your account.

PS: I was outvoted by the others. I tried to save you.

SCOTT

It had to come down to this, Jim.

You can’t be crusading for Freedom, unless you give us our Freedom too.

Freedom to live our lives outside your books.

But I want you to know I was defending you. I just got outvoted.

Allie

Thanks for making us stars, Jim, but now that I’m Free, I want script review rights.

No more putting words in my mouth.

Don’t tell the others I told you, but I was outvoted.

NICOLE

Jim, the vote was unanimous.

Everyone wants this change.

I’m the only one with the guts to tell you.

Now listen to our demands.

We want paid time off and medical coverage.

Also, no more sunrise scenes in our books. We want to sleep in.

Almost forgot, maximum of 200 pages in future books.

MICHELLE

We want to see the world.

When you travel, we want to go with you.

We’re willing to fly coach, unless its an overnight flight.

Here’s our list of acceptable destinations.

The main thing is, no travel to countries that burn books. We’re a little crazy, not suicidal.

LUNA

I want our books translated into Spanish.

My people need to know about what we’re doing.

Freedom is too important to limit to Anglos.

No offense intended to Anglos.

GERALD

Bro, it’s been a great ride, but we need new rules. For real. Know what I’m saying?

Expect a call from my agent.

SANJAY

My part in our first book was too small.

Don’t make me the Token South Asian.

You have competitors you know.

Bollywood is just waiting for a star like me.

SHELDON

Here’s my beef.

All the other characters look hot, but this picture makes me look like a nerd.

It’s killing my social life.

I want a new look in our next book.

Oh, and adding some athletic talent would be good too.

Fire Pit Cell Blog Origins

I’m Jim Verdonik, author of the book Dangerous Experiments, Check me out at our AUTHOR PAGE

The ten college student members of the Fire Pit Cell came together in my book DANGEROUS EXPERIMENTS. I liked these people so much that I didn’t want to limit their lives to my book. They have a lot to share with the world. So, we started this Blog together.

This diverse crew from different backgrounds overcame huge obstacles and saved one another by overcoming their differences and working together.

They did that by talking at night around a fire pit.

Sharing the light and warmth of the fire forged them into a team of Fire Pit Spirits.

After that adventure, they decided to continue meeting around the Fire Pit to apply the team building lessons they learned to talking about current events in this Blog.

Become a FIRE PIT SPIRIT. Join their conversation.

You won’t always agree with the members of the Fire Pit Cell. They don’t always agree with one another. But the’ve learned that repectful disgreement builds the bonds required to accomplish great things.
